Humanism, atheism and other freedoms

What sets us aside from the other animals is our capacity for rational thought. Yet there are people out there who would waste our capacity for free thinking – perhaps the greatest gift evolution has given us – by retreating into superstition.

What’s worse, many of them would force their bizarre, anachronistic ideas on the rest of us.

We have had millennia of religious indoctrination and faith-driven stifling of our rational gifts. It’s time to redress the balance.
