India cowers before religious extremists

Bangladeshi writer, Taslima Nasrin, has been driven from her home state by Islamic extremists. But the apparent sanctuary of India has turned into a prison. Fearing violence by its own muslims, India has imposed Draconian – and possibly illegal – restrictions on the author’s movements.

Religious intolerance might cost you your job

A senior executive of Barclaycard Europe has had to leave his job after making a bad joke that happened to include a religious term. It seems that, when it comes to sensitivity about religion, the rule is ‘zero tolerance’.
